Student Successes


Student success comes in a variety of ways, and here at Cypress College we are honored and proud to showcase those successes.

  • Congratulations to the Cypress College winner, Hal Saga, of the Journalism Association of Community Colleges SoCal On-The-Spot Awards for Fall 2022! Hal won first place for News Writing and fourth place for Copy Editing. Congratulations, Hal!
  • Student Brandon Davis, Cypress College’s Opening Day student speaker, and who also spoke at Americana this year, has been awarded a $2,500-$7,500 scholarship from 1 Million for Anna Foundation, for Ewings Sarcoma survivors. Brandon will be graduating this semester (May 2019) and transferring to Cal State Long Beach. This scholarship will provide $2,500 per year for up to three years, and assist him continue his pursuit of a bachelor’s degree in math.
  • Former Theater student Alex Alpharaoh performed at the Yale Repertory Theater December 13-15, 2018. He is also teaching a class in spoken word and diversity to undergraduate students at Yale.
  • Business & CIS student William Dang was Cypress College’s first CSWP certificate recipient. The certificate, awarded to Dang on December 7, 2018 by Dassault Systèmes, is a distinguished international certificate in Mechanical Design at the Professional Level. Students who earned the CSWA (Mechanical Design Certificate, Associate Level) include Patrick Babbs, Lucianna Barrueto, Mathew Green, Reinaldo Izumi, Kimberly Jang, Jonathan Libut, Christian Ruiz, and Tiffany Tran.
  • Career Technical Education student Kiersten Benson, who was part of our Flight Attendant program, successfully completed Frontier Airlines‘ initial Flight Attendant Training on December 5, 2018.
