Institutional Effectiveness, Annual Reports Presented
Dr. Simpson details successes of the college and its students during his presentation to NOCCCD Trustees.
On Tuesday, Dr. Simpson shared the success of the college and its students during his annual update to Trustees of the North Orange County Community College District.
The Institutional Effectiveness Report and the Annual Report illustrate the achievements at Cypress College during the 2013-2014 academic year.
“The content of these reports reflects the hard work and dedication of our entire college team,” Dr. Simpson told the Board. “This work is dedicated to our students with the intent of continuing our support for them as they strive to become the best that they are capable of becoming.”
The 109-page Institutional Effectiveness Report is a product of the Office of Institutional Research and Planning. The data-driven document looks at outcomes in a number of areas utilizing the measures included in the statewide Student Success Scorecard. Cypress College’s results on the Scorecard were impressive when compared with statewide averages. The data indicate that much work remains in addressing the achievement gap.
During the Board presentation, Dr. Simpson highlighted five key areas of the Scorecard: completion, persistence, attainment of 30 units, remedial coursework, and Career Technical Education. Promising results have been observed in CTE, where the achievement gap is less than half of what is observed in general education courses.
The Annual Report highlights a number of topics: Student Success; Student Demographics; Academics; Workforce Development; Achievement Gap; Student Profile; Alumni Profile; Community Relations; Veterans; Foundation; Grants; Facilities; Financial Highlights; and Legends.
