Introducing Starfish: Your Student Success Platform
We are excited to have you here at Cypress College and to introduce you to a tool to help you succeed on your educational journey. Starfish is a student success platform that connects you with the resources you need to succeed! Access it in myGateway under Student Tools or in any of your courses on Canvas.
Through Starfish you can explore the various resources Cypress has to offer, connect with your My Success Network, and get the assistance you need to help you be successful. Check out what Starfish has to offer:
Service Tiles
Here you can see all the services Cypress College has to offer on your educational journey. You can explore the services, find hours and contact information, and even email folks directly!
Raise Hand
If you have a question but don’t know who to ask, just raise your hand. By using the Raise Hand function, you can indicate the area that you need help with, and we will connect you with the right person.
My Success Network
Your My Success Network consists of all the folks on campus who are here to ensure your success. Whether they are the instructors for your courses this term, your various counselors (major and program), affinity group leaders, or deans, we are here to assist you. You will see members of your network and can connect to them directly when you log in to Starfish through Canvas or myGateway.

If you would like additional information about how to use the different tools in Starfish, please visit our Starfish page and click on the Student Resources button to access tutorials, videos, and other resources.
You can access these tools when you log in to Starfish by clicking on the menu in the upper left-hand corner.
In addition, throughout the semester you may receive emails from your instructors and other support programs (peer tutors, special program counselors, etc.) who are here to help you succeed. We will also be rolling out Starfish To Do’s to help you get familiar with the platform, and you will be eligible to win some prizes! Please be on the lookout for various Starfish emails in the future.
