Hispanic Heritage Month Events Begin This Week
Cypress College, Fullerton College, and North Orange Continuing Education celebrate this year’s Hispanic Heritage Month September 12 – October 15.
The following events, held on either the Cypress College (CC) or Fullerton College (FC) campuses, will be held through the end of September:
- Opening Kickoff | September 12 @ 12–5 p.m. | FC
Puente Center grand opening and Fullerton College Latinx Heritage Month Kickoff - Cruising to College Car Show | September 14 @ 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. | FC Lot 5
- Latinx Heritage Month Resource Fair | September 16 @ 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. | FC Reynoso Cruz Courtyard
- Kickoff Celebration | September 19 @ 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. | CC Pond

Access Your Student Email & Microsoft 365 Apps
Did you know you have a Cypress College student email address that also provides you with access to Microsoft 365 apps like Word, Excel, and PowerPoint? No? Well, now you do!
But how to access it, you ask? Just follow these steps.
- Log in to myGateway.
- Click on “CC Email” in the left-hand navigation under Shortcuts.
- On the Microsoft 365 log-in screen, enter your username and password.
- Username: your student ID and “@cypresscollege.edu” (e.g. 01234567@cypresscollege.edu)
- Password: Your myGateway password.
- If you have already set up 2FA (two-factor authentication), follow the prompts. If you have not set up 2FA, you have a couple of options:
- Download and use the Microsoft Authenticator app.
- Provide your phone # to have 2FA codes messaged to you.
- Once you have completed 2FA and you are logged in, access your email inbox by clicking on “Outlook” in the left-hand navigation, or click the nine dots in the upper left-hand corner to open a panel showing all the applications you now have access to.
- Now you’re in the know and can use these tools to help you succeed!
Please note: Emails you receive from the college are sent to the email address designated “Preferred” in your student account. To update your preferred email, log in to myGateway, click on “Update Information” in the My Information widget. You email address(es) on file are listed below Personal Details. To update your preferred email address, edit an existing address or add a new one, then click the checkbox next to “Mark as Preferred.”
Walk of Hope for Suicide Prevention Month
The Cypress College Health Center and Active Minds have partnered with Connect-OC to bring our 3rd annual Walk of Hope to the campus community. Join us for a morning program, with Active Minds guest speaker Pablo Campos, to bring awareness to suicide prevention and mental health and join us in a walk of solidarity and connection. Register for Walk of Hope.
When: September 25 @ 11 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.
Where: In front of Student Life and Leadership
Student Health and Wellness Center Offers Mental Health Services
Students may receive mental health counseling throughout the semester. Call the Health Center main line at (714) 484-7361 to make an in-person or telehealth appointment.

Monday–Thursday @ 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Friday @ 8 a.m. – 12 p.m.
Join the Active Minds Support Group!
A safe and supportive space for students to learn about mental health. Different themes and discussions every week. Feel free to bring your lunch. Drop in and connect with others on campus!
When: Wednesdays @ 12-1 p.m.
Where: On the grassy area between Gym 1 and the L/LRC

One Person, No Vote: How Voter Suppression is Destroying Our Democracy
Join Dr. Carol Anderson, the Charles Howard Candler Professor and Chair of African American Studies at Emory University, for a workshop exploring voter suppression among African Americans, minorities, and the low income in general. This virtual event will be followed by an in-depth panel discussion with faculty across the academic community. Presented by Pluralism, Equity, and Inclusion (PIE), sponsored by Cypress College, Fullerton College, NOCCCD’s Chancellor’s Office, and DCI Office.
A watch party will be held at Cypress College September 13, 9-11 a.m. in HUM-131. Viewers can alternatively join online.
Today is the Last Day to Opt Out of the Charger Book Pass
If you’re registered for one or more classes at Cypress College, you automatically have the Charger Book Pass. If you’ve decided not to use the Charger Book Pass or it simply does not make financial sense for your class situation, you must opt out today, September 9.
Watch the “How to Opt Out” video, then access the Opt-Out Portal to opt out of the program.
If you opt out by the September 9 deadline, you will not be charged for the program.
