ESL Assessment Resources

If you speak English as a Second Language (ESL), you will take the Combined English Language Skills Assessment (CELSA) to help place you into the most appropriate course. 

• The CELSA focuses on English language proficiency and tests sentence structure and grammar. Students read passages and select responses based on four choice multiple choice options for each sentence (75 questions, 50 minutes).

If you want to spend more time building language skills before taking the CELSA and prerequisite writing challenge, you can take free, non-credit ESL classes at NOCE.
