What to Do if You Test Positive for COVID-19

If you’ve tested positive within the last 14 days, please follow the instructions below.

1. Do Not Come to Campus

Contact your instructor(s) to inform them of your positive case of COVID-19 and to make arrangements for class assignments.

If you cannot reach an instructor, notify Campus Safety of your positive case of COVID-19 by calling (714) 484-7387. Campus Safety will connect you with a dean and/or the Vice President of Student Services to discuss your next steps.

2. Isolate

  • Stay home for 5 days from onset of symptoms
  • Antigen test on day #5 if all symptoms have resolved
  • Positive antigen test – continue to isolate for 5 days if symptoms resolve without meds
  • Negative antigen test – wear a surgical mask for 5 days and resume activities

If you prefer not to test and have COVID-19 symptoms, isolate for 10 days from the onset of symptoms if symptoms have resolved without meds.

3. Complete the Questionnaire

The dean from your Cypress College program will contact you to ask you to complete a confidential questionnaire. This questionnaire will help trace potential additional on-campus exposures. Exposure is defined as having close contact with an individual with confirmed or suspected COVID-19 (someone who was within 6 feet of an infected person for at least 15 minutes).
