Theatre Arts is hosting auditions this fall for two plays in spring: The SpongeBob Musical and Big Love.

Audition Information for The SpongeBob Musical

Directed By: Daniel Nakawatase
Choreographer: Sonya Randall
Musical Director: Bradley Hampton

Auditions will take place December 1 and 2 at 7 p.m. in the Campus Theater with callbacks December 5 at 7 p.m. in room TA-117 

  • Be prepared with 16 bars of a musical theatre style song (an accompanist will be provided) and bring clothes to move in for the dance audition later in the evening. Headshots/resumes not required, but encouraged. 
  • No experience needed. High schoolers are allowed to audition as well.
  • Rehearsal times: Monday through Friday, evenings, 6-10 p.m.
  • Performance Dates: March 13, 14, 20, and 21 at 7 p.m. and March 15 and 22 at 4 p.m. in the Campus Theater
  • If cast, you will be required to register as a student at Cypress College and enroll in a winter Intercession course for music rehearsals, as well as a spring semester Musical Theatre Performance class and  sign up to work on crew for a separate production.

Synopsis: Based on the popular Nickelodeon animated series, the musical follows SpongeBob SquarePants’ attempts to avert a volcanic eruption in his underwater home of Bikini Bottom.

Audition Information for Big Love

Directed By: Jennifer McMillin

Auditions will take place December 1 at 6 p.m. and December 3 at 3 p.m. with callbacks December 3 at 6 p.m. in the Studio Theater.

  • Please prepare a 1-minute contemporary monologue. 
  • Rehearsal Times: Monday through Thursday 4-7 p.m.
  • Performance Dates: April 24, 25, and May 1, and 2 at 7 p.m.; April 26 and May 3 at 4 p.m. in the Studio Theater
  • If cast, you will be required to register as a student at Cypress College for a Rehearsal/Performance course, and sign up to work on crew for a separate production.

Synopsis: Written by Charles Mee, this play tells the story of 50 brides who flee to a manor in Italy to escape their arranged marriages.

Synopsis: The musical intertwines the plots of several Brothers Grimm fairy tales, such as Little Red Riding Hood, Jack and the Beanstalk, and Cinderella, exploring the consequences of the characters’ wishes and quests.

  • Performance Dates: October 31, November 1, 7, 8 at 7 p.m.​ and November 2, 9 at 4 p.m. in the Studio Theater
  • If cast, you will be required to register as a student at Cypress College for a Rehearsal/Performance course, and sign up to work on crew for a separate production.

Synopsis: In the rigid Puritan society of Salem, Massachusetts, a group of teenage girls is stricken by a mysterious illness. When no earthly cause can be found, the girls rock the village with accusations of witchcraft against their neighbors.
