Meaning, Value, and Purpose in a Physical World
Lecture by Professor Jason Thibodeau, Philosophy Department
We are beings who grapple with what matters. We ask about the moral value of things. And we ask grand questions about the meaning and purpose of our lives. Such questions are deeply important, and we have deep disagreements about them. Because of this, some conclude that only god could provide a solid basis for objectively correct answers. This presentation concerns the nature of these questions, what it is for there to objectively correct answers to them, and what god has to do with any of it.
