NOCCCD Grads to Be Program’s Present UndocuAlly Educators Training Series Spring 2022 Schedule!

The UndocuAlly Educators Training Series is composed of three parts designed to inform, train, and equip North Orange County Community College District staff, faculty, managers, and community on how to best support undocumented students and students in mixed status families.

*Participants only need to attend (1) option for either Part 1 or Part 2.

Part 1 – An introduction to the Undocumented CommunityIn this training we discuss key terms, the rights and benefits on the basis of one’s immigration status, highlight the diversity of the undocumented community, dismantle the DREAMer Narrative, and explore the challenges undocumented students experience.

Part 2 – Supporting and Working with Undocumented StudentsIn this training we conceptualize the term UndocuAlly, outline Allyship steps, discuss effective strategies and best practices when working with undocumented students.

Part 3 – Understanding Undocumented Student RightsIn this training we identify the rights undocumented students and their families possess, discuss the NOCCCD’s Protocol for Immigration Related Requests, and we explore Know Your Rights resources the NOCCCD community can use in the unlikely event that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) or other person or governmental entity pursue immigration-related investigations on our campuses.
