About Professor Robertson
In January 1995, I received my B.A. in English from Cal State Fullerton. In September 1995, I began to teach in my own classroom when I was given a position at Seitoku Women’s University and Junior College in Japan. This was an incredible experience. I loved working abroad and learning about Japanese culture. This experience made me realized that ESL was the career for me.
After returning from Japan, I decided to get a master’s degree in TESL. While I waited to begin the program, I taught several ESL classes at a language school. A few months later, I began work on a Masters’ degree at Arizona State University.
While I was working on my Master’s degree, I taught ESL at Mesa Public Schools and English composition to freshmen at Arizona State University. In May 1998, I received my Master’s in Teaching English as a Second Language.
With my degree in hand, I returned to California and began my career as an ESL instructor. For several years, I taught as an ESL instructor at various community colleges.
Now, I am very happy to be an ESL instructor at Cypress College. Since I started here at Cypress, I have taught most of our ESL courses.
