I have been an instructor for the Cypress College Health Information Technology Program since 2014 teaching the Beginning ICD-10 Coding and Coding Skills Lab courses.

In addition to teaching, I am an independent consultant providing coding and auditing services in the acute care and ambulatory care settings.  I have over 25 years experience in the healthcare field.

I received my Associate of Science at Cypress College, and achieved my Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), and both certifications for the Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Certified Coding Specialist-Physician Based (CCS-P) as well as earned the status of a  ICD-10-CM/PCS AHIMA Approved Trainer. I am also an active member of the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) where I currently participate in the Mentor Program for students and healthcare professionals.

HI 114 Beginning ICD-10 Coding

The focus of this course is to learn about nomenclatures and the classification systems ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS. As we learn these complex systems we will be building a solid foundation that can be applied in a variety of areas in the healthcare field, such as medical research, management decision-making, and reimbursement purposes.
