Medical Microbiology BIO 220

Course Description (3 hours of lecture and 3 hours of laboratory per week)
This 4-unit course is a study of the etiology, transmission, pathology, diagnosis, and control of infectious disease. Special attention is given to the topics of immunology and chemotherapy. Laboratory exercises integrate hands-on experience and a clinical application perspective into the processes of specimen handling, aseptic techniques, and the isolation, identification, and physiological testing of microorganisms. This course is recommended for students of nursing (RN), dental technology, medical records, and baccalaureate degree in medical or public health programs.
