MESA
MESA (Math, Engineering, Science Achievement) is a program at Cypress College designed to provide enriching experiences and foster a deeper appreciation for students in calculus-based majors.
Cypress College is proud to be one of the many community colleges in California that provide student support in collaboration with the California Community Colleges Chancellor’s Office. Our team is devoted to providing student support services to ensure student success in their academic journey.
Eligibility
To be eligible for the MESA Program, prospective students must meet the following criteria:
- Declare a calculus-based major in Math, Science, or Engineering
- Good academic standing with a minimum 2.0 GPA
- Enrolled in at least 2 STEM course per semester at Cypress College
- Intend to transfer to a 4-year institution
- Be a U.S. Citizen, Resident, or DACA Recipient
- Be eligible for financial aid
- First-generation college student (parents did not graduate college)
Program Benefits:
- Guaranteed seating in SEM courses*
- Access to specialized internships and industry network
- Transfer assistance through our MESA counselor
- MESA/STEM Center for individual and group study
- Specialized MESA excursions, university campus visits, and lab tours
- Designated MESA tutoring & academic workshops
Program Requirements:
- Attend the MESA Orientation/Meet & Greet Event
- Schedule 1 appointment with the designated MESA counselor
- Be enrolled in at least 2 STEM classes at Cypress College
- Attend 2 Academic Excellence Workshops
- Participate in 3 hours of Approved MESA Engagement Activities
Accepting applications for MESA fall 2024 until September 5, 2024.
Interest Forms submitted by September 5, 2024, will be reviewed by September 10, 2024.
