Thada Myat Su

Studio Arts, Animation emphasis

My name is Thada Myat Su. I would like to thank to Professor Kathy Wada for informing me about the ESL Milestone Certificate to eligible students. This certificate is very meaningful for me. Also, I would like to thank all of the ESL professors for helping me with my English. As I am an international student form Burma, I had a language barrier when I first arrived at Cypress College. But, I realized that I am better with the help of professors and the ESL program. The ESL pathway leads me to what I really want to be. For the first and second semester at Cypress College, I did not know what I really want to do in my life. But, the ESL program provided me to understand more about the American education system and culture. ESL is not just helping me with English. It helps me to make a right decision for my life. Without this program, I will not be a better student. ESL helps me to achieve my goal. For spring 2020, I will be studying studio arts in Cypress College and will transfer to a university. I can’t say thank you enough to the ESL program for helping me to achieve my dream to be a studio artist.

This is Madi Myat Su. First of all, I would like to thank indeed Professor Kathryn Wada for gladly informing me about ESL Milestone Certificates to eligible students, and the community which honour ESL students with Milestone Certificates. I am truly blissful when I got the eligibility email from Professor Wada.

Wordlessly, the certificates are so much meaningful to me as it is a pathway to everywhere that I can dream of. Admittedly at the first year at Cypress College, I did not know what I wanted to be in my life, and taking the ESL 183 at first semester, however, was a right choice for me. As I am a foreign student from Burma, I do not deny the fact that I have a language barrier. I did have a lot of struggles to understand the accent of American people when I first arrived to the United States. I finished my high school only in my country and deciding to come to the U.S. to study in Cypress College was quite challenging for me at first. But I never regret making this decision because all the professors I met in Cypress College are very kindhearted and welcoming. In addition, without the help of ESL program at Cypress College, I could not imagine where my life would be. Thankfully, the ESL program really pushed me toward what I wanted to be, and it is a real pathway that lead me to the major of my dream finally.
