University of California Campuses (UC)
The University of California (UC) is a public university system with an emphasis on research. It has nine undergraduate campuses with 150 academic programs. It is designed for the top 4% of students.
California State University Campuses (CSU)
The California State University is a public state university system with an emphasis on teaching and teacher and workforce preparation. It is designed for the top 50% of students. It has 23 campuses located throughout the state. The CSU offers more than 1,400 baccalaureate degrees, and Master’s degrees in over 200 subject areas.
California Independent Colleges and Universities
California has 77 non-profit, independent colleges and universities. These schools all have their own governing boards which conform to their own unique set of values. As a result, they are very diverse and offer many different opportunities for students.
