Financial Aid Priority Deadline Extension

Great news: The state priority deadline for the 2025-26 academic year’s financial aid in California has been extended to April 2, 2025. Based on the delayed launch of the financial aid cycle, the California Student Aid Commission (CSAC) has extended the statewide priority aid application deadline for all students in California. Students and families can visit the link below for application help.

Americana Award’s 50th Gala

For its the 50th anniversary celebration, the Americana Awards will honor local heroes and one Southern California legend as Person of the Year, the NBA Iron Man A.C. Green, who won three championships with the Lakers between 1987 and 2000. The gala will take place March 15 starting at 5 p.m. at the Westin Anaheim Resort, and employees of Cypress College get special ticket pricing. Stop by the silent auction tables to bid on vacations and unique items, and enjoy the evening’s exhibits while toasting to 50 years of supporting students through fundraising.

APIDA Center Ribbon-Cutting

The APIDA (Asian, Pacific Islander, Desi American) Resource Center’s recent ribbon-cutting featured food, dragons, music, dancing, and more. Alumna Dr. Rowena M. Tomaneng, Deputy Chancellor of the California Community Colleges, gave a personal and powerful keynote; Dr. Cherry Li-Bugg, the inaugural NOCCCD Vice Chancellor of Educational Services & Technology, and Cypress College President Dr. Scott W. Thayer also greeted guests. The event was emceed by Joey Quenga, the center’s Special Project Coordinator. Leading up to the ribbon-cutting, and following the formal presentations, guests got a tour of the campus with stops themed to each of the APIDA regions. There was food, dancing, a dancing dragon, music, and pageantry in each location. The event ended with the formal ribbon-cutting near the entrance to the center, which remained open for guests to tour.

Spring Musical: Hello, Dolly!

The Theatre Arts Department shows off its biggest, boldest stage sets yet in this spring’s musical “Hello, Dolly!” Showtimes are March 14, 15, 21, and 22 at 7 p.m. and March 16 and 23 at 4 p.m.

Opening Reception: An Earth Twin at the Digital Dawn

Janet Owen Driggs curates this exhibit of Tom Van Sant’s Geosphere Project, which mapped out a model of Earth in the very early years of the tech revolution. It will be on view at the Cypress College Art Gallery March 6 – April 18, 2025, Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. and by appointment. An opening reception takes place March 6, 6-8 p.m.

Opening Reception: Make a Thing Every Day

Make A Thing Every Day by Ken Hada will be on display in the Edouard de Merlier Gallery, located in TE-1 Second Floor, Bldg. 10, from March 6 – April 18, 2025. An opening reception will take place Thursday, March 6, 6 – 8 p.m. The Gallery hours are: Monday-Thursday: 8 a.m. – 8:30 p.m.; Friday: 10:15 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
