@Cypress 09/08/25 – Hispanic Heritage Month, Club Rush, Career Workshops, and Financial Aid Loan Orientations This Week

Hispanic Heritage Month

It’s Hispanic Heritage Month, and NOCCCD has planned several events to celebrate.

Activities begin this week with the Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI) Kickoff Event on Tuesday, September 9 at 11 a.m.at Fullerton College in the Cruz Reynoso Building.

Then, get informed on immigration with the CHIRLA Know Your Rights Presentation on Thursday, September 11 at 2 p.m. (see below for more info). Enjoy a treat at the Paletas with Puente event Tuesday, September 16 at 2:30 p.m. at the Puente Center in the Humanities building. And much more — the events continue into October!

Club Rush Week

Student clubs offer great opportunities to build friendships, grow personally and professionally, and get involved in the campus community.

This week, students will have a chance to discover the many clubs at Cypress College, see what they have to offer, and join! In addition, food will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. More than 30 clubs have planned to share information to potential new members!

When: Tuesday, September 9 and Wednesday, September 10, 12-2 p.m.

Accessing Student Email and Microsoft 365

All students have access to the Microsoft Office Suite including programs such as Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook, the email app. Log on to any of the programs through myGateway, following the steps at this link.

Career Planning and Workforce Development Center Workshops and Events

Gear up for your career search by attending Career Planning and Workforce Development Workshops and Events. Starting this week and continuing through October, you’ll get a chance to sharpen your skills and navigate the job hunt. Here are the September events:

Workshop: Know Your Rights

You have rights no matter your immigration status. Cypress College invites you to join us for a Know Your Rights Workshop facilitated by CHIRLA. This workshop is designed to inform students and community members about immigration-related topics and empower you by understanding your legal rights. You’ll learn how to:

  • Understand your legal rights regardless of immigration status
  • Navigate interactions with law enforcement and ICE
  • Gain knowledge about immigration-related resources available to the community
