FITE Club Weekly Meetings
FITE Club Weekly meetings are designed to reach the formerly incarcerated, system-impacted, and addiction recovery student population on campus. The student-operated club, emphasizes on building community, empowering these students to build a sense of belonging, and provide them with the necessary resources to succeed both inside and outside the classroom. Alexandra Billings is an amazing human being with a wealth of experience and wisdom in the areas of theater, film, activism, and higher education. Brittany Morton and The Breaking Bars Community Network (many of whom are from Homeboy Industries) have extensively researched, compiled, and organized information and resources for community college faculty and staff to utilize when working with formerly incarcerated students. This training will enable participants to provide equity-minded and culturally competent services to this student population on Cypress College's campus.
