Holocaust Survivors Gallery Docent-Led Tours

Visitors admire framed photographs on a gallery wall, showcasing various individuals and their stories.

The Ursula Lowenbach Foster Holocaust Survivors Portrait Gallery at Cypress College features over 50 portraits by Photography Professor Emeritus Clifford Lester, whose parents were Holocaust survivors. Inspired by his mother, Ursula Lowenbach Foster, the gallery honors her commitment to sharing the lessons humanity can learn from the Holocaust.

Located on the second floor of the Student Center, it is the only gallery of its kind on a community college campus in the U.S. Visitors can explore the gallery independently or join docent-led tours, which offer a more penetrating look at survivors’ personal experiences while examining the historical context of the Holocaust. These tours highlight themes of resilience, courage, hope, and gratitude, inspiring and imploring visitors to combat antisemitism and hate.
