  • English Assessment Sample
    • CTEP: College Test for English Placement
        • For English, Cypress College offers the CTEP, which we recommend for native English speakers.
        • Timed test that consists of three parts: Reading Comprehension (35 questions, 30 minutes), Sentence Structure & Grammar (30 questions, 20 minutes), Sentence & Syntax Skills (45 questions, 15 minutes)
  • ESL Assessment Sample
    • CELSA Language Skills Assessment
      • For students who speak English as a Second Language (ESL) we recommend the Combined English Language Skills Assessment (CELSA).
      • The CELSA focuses on English language proficiency and tests sentence structure and grammar. Students read passages and select responses based on four choice multiple choice options for each sentence (75 questions, 50 minutes).

  • DSS Accommodations
    • Accommodations are available for students with verified disabilities, such as extended time on assessment tests. Contact Disability Support Services at (714) 484-7104 for more information.
  • NOCE College English Preparation Program
    • Students interested in preparing further for tests like the CTEP for English can go to any of our Learning Centers located in either Anaheim, Cypress, or Wilshire campuses through North Orange Continuing Education. For more information including hours of operation and location, you can visit the NOCE website.
  • Charger Experience Program
    • The Charger Experience Program hosts two Summer Boost Workshops during the summer aimed at improving students’ English or math skills. Two sessions are held for both subjects during the summer. Participation in Summer Boost may help students advance one or more levels in English or math, obtain priority registration for the next academic year, and many other benefits!
