Annual Kwanzaa Celebration
Our Annual Kwanzaa Celebration is scheduled for Tuesday, December 8 @ 5 p.m. This year, we will have a virtual celebration, which includes music, dancing, and drumming. Curated by artist and Cypress Adjunct Professor Nzuji De Magalhaes, the HAIRTAGE: Tangled, Twisted, and Black exhibition and speaker series brings together artists who approach Black hair as a locus of tension and affirmation. The exhibition is online, along with details of the speaker series, which kicks off on February 8, 11:30 a.m., when April Bey will discuss her work. In addition to the HAIRTAGE Speaker Series, while classes are online, CCAG is offering exhibition tours via Zoom.

Alexandra Billings is an amazing human being with a wealth of experience and wisdom in the areas of theater, film, activism, and higher education. This discussion and presentation will take a deep dive into the linguistic, ideological, and cultural categorization of “Caste” laid out in Isabel Wilkerson’s, “Caste”: The Origins of Our Discontent” (2020).
