Accelerated, Online, & Hybrid Courses

Accelerated Courses

The Cypress College English Department offers a variety of accelerated composition and literature courses to help students meet their educational goals. Most short-term classes run in either 8- or 12-week formats and utilize technology.

  • Online classes provide all of the course content—lectures, discussions, and exams—over the internet.
  • Hybrid courses include both online content and face-to-face class meetings.
  • Fast-Track classes link English 60C and English 100C; students complete a year’s worth of composition coursework in one semester.

Online & Hybrid Offerings

The English Department has been an integral part of the Cypress College Distance Education Program for almost fifteen years. Our faculty were some of the first on our campus to adopt the online format in order to provide greater access and flexibility for our students. The English Department has expanded its offerings to include hybrid classes that incorporate both online and classroom settings.

Take Online Courses Anywhere

Our online courses can be taken anywhere you have access to a computer and the internet. For some courses, students are never required to attend class on campus. For other courses, students attend on campus class sessions only two to five times a semester. If on campus meetings are required for a course, the dates are listed in the main body of the current class schedule. All online instructors, fellow students, and campus services are only a click away.

Combine On-Campus and Online Learning

Hybrid courses allow you to have the best of both worlds! Work online and meet on campus for reinforcement, practice, and discussion. The dates for the meetings are listed in the main body of the current class schedule and attendance at class meetings is required.
