English Department

The Cypress College English Department offers a variety of accelerated composition and literature courses, as well as online and hybrid offerings to help students meet their educational goals.

Our A.C.C.E.S.S. (Achieving Cypress College Educational Student Success) program is one way to inform students of the support services available to them. A.C.C.E.S.S. in the English 60 classroom is designed to engage students to think critically about the various student support services and programs available, produce written articulation of their analysis and observations, and encourage internalization and ownership of the information that they have gathered.

The Cypress College English Department offers a range of in-person and online creative writing courses and a new Creative Writing Certificate Program.

English Peer Tutors serve as academic student leaders and mentors, playing a vital role in helping students implement effective study strategies, deepen their comprehension of course content, and enhance their overall academic performance by connecting with campus resources and sharing their own strategies and academic experiences.

Sole Image is the English Department’s creative arts journal, designed and produced annually by students at Cypress College including the Creative Guild Club. Sole Image publishes prose, poetry, music, visual arts, and other artistic mediums. Our aim is to celebrate the diverse voices and artistry of our students here at Cypress College.
