The Office of Vice President of Student Services
Dr. Paul de Dios has 25 years of experience within the California community college system, serving in various administrative and teaching capacities. Dr. de Dios serves as the Vice President of Student Services at Cypress College. In this position, as Chief Student Services Officer, he is responsible for all student services departments (listed below).
Since 2007, Dr. de Dios has served as the Dean of Counseling, Student Development, and Admissions & Records at Cypress College; prior to joining the college, he served for eight years as Dean of Student Affairs, Director of Special Programs and Services (EOPS, CARE, DSS, and CalWORKs) at Barstow Community College. Finally, Dr. de Dios is an adjunct professor at California State University, Long Beach in the College of Education-Student Development in Higher Education Program. These positions afforded him the ability to proudly share with students that he was a product of the public education system and can certainly understand their community college and university journeys.
In an effort to maintain strong community connections for Cypress College, Dr. de Dios is involved in the community serving as a Board of Director and Past-Chair of the Board for the Garden Grove Chamber of Commerce and Chair of the Board for Helping Others Prepare for Eternity (HOPE), an organization that assists abandoned and abused women and children in Garden Grove with basic needs to aid in their health, well-being, and success. In addition, he has been instrumental in equity-minded professional development and projects by bringing nationally recognized scholars and equity champions to address equity gaps that affect our most vulnerable populations: Black/African American, Latinx, and Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI). A first-generation immigrant, Dr. de Dios is a proud product of the California Community College system where he earned his first college degree; A.A. in Sociology from Cerritos College. He earned his B.A. in Sociology from University of California, Irvine, M.S. in Counseling-Student Development in Higher Education and Ed.D. in Education Leadership from California State University, Long Beach.
